Technical requirements for web advertising

General requirements and information

  1. The pricing of an advertisement of Õhtuleht Kirjastus is based on the CPM model. CPM (cost per mille) means that the advertisement has been loaded 1,000 times.
  2. Web environments (portals *.ohtuleht.ee, liigume.ee and kliendilehed.ee) of Õhtuleht Kirjastus, hereinafter portals, support advertisements in GIF, JPG, PNG, MP4 and HTML formats. In addition, we accept third-party serving codes. The content served by these codes has to meet all the requirements listed on this page.
  3. The size of the advertisement file cannot exceed 100 KB, unless there is a special agreement. The file size for the video advertisement cannot exceed 2 MB, unless there is a special agreement.
  4. Õhtuleht Kirjastus reserves the right to reject an advertisement if its content does not comply with current legislation, is illegal, improper, misleading, offensive or too similar to the design of the portals.
  5. Õhtuleht Kirjastus does not take any responsibility for the quality of the products and services advertised on its sites.
  6. Õhtuleht Kirjastus discloses statistics to the advertising client during the campaign and for one month after the end of the campaign.
  7. Õhtuleht Kirjastus does not take any responsibility for the lawfulness of the advertisements displayed on its sites. The advertising client is obliged to check that their advertisements published in the portals comply with current legislation and, when placing an order, the client confirms that in the case of a violation of the law, they will cover all costs incurred.
  8. By agreeing to the advertising terms and conditions of Õhtuleht Kirjastus, the advertising client confirms that the advertisement is in compliance with the Advertising Act, the Consumer Protection Act, the Law of Obligations Act and other legislation. In doing so, the advertising client confirms that they will comply with the pricing policy laid down in the regulations for the products advertised. In the event that the advertisements do not comply with the requirements established for advertising and Õhtuleht Kirjastus will be subject to claims or injunctions by supervisory bodies and/or sanctioning measures, the advertising client is obliged to compensate the costs and fines (including legal costs) related to the illegal advertising.

Advertising etiquette

  1. The advertisement must not be misleading. For example, this means that the banner should not resemble the dialogue boxes of Windows/Mac/Unix, error messages, etc.
  2. The advertisement must not resemble the content of the portal.
  3. Advertisements should not include elements simulating interactivity such as drop-down menus, search boxes, etc. if the banner does not actually have such functionality.
  4. The design of the advertisement must not imitate news headlines in their design or tone, they must not be written in third person or as raising a topic.
  5. Adding a cookie to the computer of a user through the advertisement without prior agreement is forbidden.
  6. Õhtuleht Kirjastus has the right to remove from their environment any users of the portal and/or any advertisements damaging or disrupting user functionality.
  7. Õhtuleht Kirjastus will not publish banners with frames that rotate, blink or flicker faster than once a second.

Forms of advertising that collect personal data

Õhtuleht Kirjastus allows the use of advertisements published in its environment for the purpose of collecting personal data, but reserves the right to require the necessary changes to be made or information to be added before the advertisement is published. If you also want to collect personal data in the course of an advertising campaign, the advertisement must meet the following conditions.

  1. Your establishment/institution must be clearly highlighted.
  2. There must be a direct link to your company's data protection notice in the immediate vicinity of the “send” button.
  3. The purpose of the data collection must be stated and the controller and processor must be clearly identified.

Submission deadlines for advertisements

  1. The submission deadline for a standard advertisement is at least one working day before the beginning of the campaign.
  2. The submission deadline for an interactive advertisement (Rich Media, HTML, third party trackers, special solutions) is two working days before the beginning of the campaign. In the case of late submissions, the exact start date of the campaign is not guaranteed.
  3. Advertising space can only be cancelled in writing two working days before the deadline. In case of a later cancellation, Õhtuleht Kirjastus has the right to charge a fee of 50% of the agreed net amount of the campaign.

Technical requirements for HTML5 advertisements

An HTML advertisement must be in the correct .html format and all HTML, CSS and JavaScript functions can be used which work in all common browsers The code of the advertisement must be compiled without console errors.

The advertisement must not include images, JS, CSS or other files outside of the .zip container sent to Õhtuleht (except CDNs).

Elements of an image used in the advertisement should preferably be sprited from one file.

An HTML advertisement must contain at least one clickTAG. There are two steps for adding it:

Add the following code between the <head></head> TAGS:

    • <script src="https://s.ocdn.ee/scripts/ads.js"></script><script> var clickTag = "" </script>
    • If there is one clickTAG, add it to the <body> TAG as follows:
      <body onclick="window.open(olBanner.getClickTag(), '_blank')"></body>
      In the case of several different clickTAGs, add them to the various elements as follows:

Tracking pixels and codes can be added inside the HTML advertisements Keep in mind that the tracking code is activated later (after the advertisement is displayed), which means that the statistics of views might differ. Payments are settled according to the advertising server (Google Ad Manager) of Õhtuleht Kirjastus.

HTML advertisements created with tools (Adobe Animate, Google Web Designer, Tumult Hype) must also meet the requirements set out above.

Sitehat / Wallpaper

Sitehat consists of a header and background (separate files).

The header width is 1280 px and the height is according to the purchased product, 200 px, 300 px or 400 px. Suitable file types for a header are .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, .MP4 and .HTML files.

The background size is 1920x1200 px. It is important to acknowledge that on smaller devices, the whole background may not be visible. Therefore, the background should be either a pattern or an image and there should be no text. Suitable file types for a background are .JPG, .GIF and .PNG files.

It is possible to make Sitehat also as one file (as a background file only). In this case, the header space is transparent and the background file can be seen from there.

The total size of Sitehat's advertising files may not exceed 300 KB.

Siteheader

Siteheader consists of two parts: 1) Large (on top) 2) Small (sticky part).

The size of the large part of a typical site header is 1280x200/300/400 px and the small part is 1280x100 px.

The size of the large part of the full-screen site header is 1920x1080 px (the safe area of the large part is 90% of the banner surface, i.e. placing texts within 150 px of the edge of the design must be avoided) and the size of the small part is 1920x100 px (the safe area of the small part is 1280x100 px, which is placed in the centre of the banner). A large part of a full-screen site header for an HTML file must be 100% responsive.

In addition, it is possible to specify a free background colour that is visible on both sides of the advertisement.

Suitable file types are .JPG, .PNG, .GIF, .MP4 and .HTML.

The total size of Siteheader's advertising files may not exceed 300 KB.

Pagebreak

The size of a pagebreak is 1920x1080 px on desktop and 1080x1920 px on mobile (in the case of HTML 100%x100%).

The safe area of a pagebreak is 90% of the banner's surface, i.e. placing text at the edge of the design must be avoided.

Suitable file types for a pagebreak are .JPG, .PNG, .MP4 and .HTML.

Max allowed file size for a Pagebreak advertising file is 300 K

Splash banners

A splash banner contains two parts: small part (visible in normal view) and large part (visible when opened).

When a user moves across the advertisement with a mouse, a second counter (3 seconds) will be activated in the middle of the advertisement and the advertisement will open when the counter reaches zero.

Sticky

A sticky can be a .PNG, .GIF and .JPG file, sized 1200x35/50 px.

The advertisement moves from the right to the left.

The maximum size of a Sticky advertisement file is 100 KB.

Sticky Box (bottom left corner)

A Sticky Box (bottom left corner) can be a .PNG, .GIF, .JPG and .HTML file, sized 300x250 px.

The advertisement is located at the bottom left corner of the page.

The maximum size of a Sticky Box (bottom left corner) advertisement file is 100 KB.

Mobile Siteheader

Mobile Siteheader can be a .PNG, .GIF, .JPG, .HTML file, sized 600x250 and 600x100 px (in the case of HTML 100%x100%).

The advertisement is responsive, i.e. from one edge of the screen to the other. In the case of image files, the image is scaled down (e.g. if the width of the mobile screen is 300 px, the advertisement will be reduced to the size 300x50 px). In the case of an HTML file, the advertisement must be responsive, i.e. sized 100%x100%, aspect ratio 6:1.

As the close button of the advertisement is located in the right hand corner, it is best to avoid displaying important information (texts, logos, etc.) there. The close button may hide information from view.

The total size of a Mobile Siteheader's advertising files may not exceed 300 KB.

Interstitial (mobile)

Interstitial (mobile) can be a .PNG, .GIF and .JPG file, sized 650x890.

The maximum size of an interstitial (mobile) advertisement file is 300 KB.

Sticky (mobile)

Mobile sticky can be .PNG, .GIF, .JPG, .HTML file, sized 600x100 px or 600x300 px (in the case of HTML 100%x100%).

The advertisement is responsive, i.e. from one edge of the screen to the other. In the case of image files, the image is scaled down (e.g. if the width of the mobile screen is 300 px, the advertisement will be reduced to the size 300x50 px).

Interstitial (gallery) can be a .PNG, .GIF and .JPG file, sized 1920x1080 px.

The advertisement appears after every seventh image.

Video ad

The format for a video ad is MP4 and it is recommended to keep the video on the server of Õhtuleht but to create a container with the desired appearance. Please send us the video file and after uploading it to our server, we will send the file location to the creator of the banner.

Requirements for the video file:

    • Video resolution: 1280x720 px
      • Video format: MP4/H264 (profiil: Baseline, Level: 3.1, Keyframe: 1s)
        • Video FPS: 25
          • Video bitrate: 1500 (recommended maximum)
            • Audio format: MP3
              • Audio sample rate: 44100
                • Audio bitrate: 64kbps (recommended)
                  • Audio channels: mono (recommended)

If the video is intended for pre-roll:

    • Video resolution: 646x363 px
      • Video format: MP4/H264 (profiil: Baseline, Level: 3.1, Keyframe: 1s)
        • 30 sec
